Visiting Scholar Lecture

On November 16, 2009, Professor Michelle Harner will speak on the role of activist debtholders in restructuring. Professor Harner is an associate professor of law at University of Maryland School of Law. Professor Harner’s current research interests include, among other topics, shareholder and creditor activism and its impact on corporate value; legislative responses to serial business failures and related implications for discrete industries; and the ethical implications of insolvency for directors, officers and other fiduciaries. Court of Chancery Investiture

On October 9, 2009, J. Travis Laster will be installed as Vice Chancellor of the Delaware Court of Chancery. Mr. Laster recently published an article, Goodbye to the Contemporaneous Ownership Requirement, in Vol. 33, No. 3. The board and staff of the Delaware Journal of Corporate Law would like to congratulate Mr. Laster and wish him much success in his new position.

The Journal Welcomes Distinguished Lecturer

On October 8, 2009, Dr. William Poole will present a lecture at the law school. Poole is the former President and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. Currently, Dr. Poole serves as a senior fellow at the Cato Institute, Senior Advisor to Merk Investments, and Distinguished Scholar in Residence at the University of Delaware. The Journal welcomes Dr. Poole and looks forward to his lecture.

The panel will consist of published professors and students who will answer questions related to writing a law review article. This will be especially helpful to those students participating in the Journal's Summer Writing and Superior Authorship Competitions. It promises to be an informative and engaging session! Superior Authorship Competition

If you are a 2L RD or a 3L ED and would like to seek membership onto the Journal, we invite you to do so by submitting a scholarly note of your own topic and research (including seminar papers).  This is a great opportunity to gain invaluable experience and the possibility of being published in our nationally ranked journal.

Please note that you must have your topic APPROVED by William Alleman by April 29th to be eligible for the Superior Authorship Competition.  Moreover, for eligibility onto the Journal, you must have at least a 2.7 cumulative GPA at the completion of the 2009-2010 school year. 

Paper Due Date: June 19, 2009, at 4:00 p.m.
